Pre-opening Comments for Wednesday October 5th
U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 32 points in pre-opening trade
Index futures were virtually unchanged following release of the August U.S. Trade report. At 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus was a deficit of $68.00 billion versus a deficit of $70.70 billion in July. Actual was a deficit of $67.4 billion.
The Canadian Dollar was virtually unchanged at US73.48 cents following release of Canada’s August Merchandise Trade report at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus was a surplus of $3.5 billion versus a surplus of $4.05 billion in July. Actual was a surplus of $1.52 billion.
Crude oil added $0.30 to $86.82 per barrel prior to a start of the OPEC + meeting today. Consensus is calling for a reduction in crude oil by the group by at least one million barrels per day.
AutoZone gained $12.32 to $2217.35 after the company added $2.5 billion to its share buyback program.
SeaWorld dropped $0.50 to $49.01 after Truist lowered its target price from $70 to $60.

Silver ETN moved above $19.22 extending an intermediate uptrend. Platinum ETN $PPLT moved above $85.78 completing a double bottom pattern. Palladium ETN moved above $212.80 extending an intermediate uptrend. Gold Miners ETF $GDX moved above intermediate resistance at $25.71.Yamana $YRI.TO moved above $6.68 extending an intermediate. Wheaton Precious Metals $WPM moved above intermediate resistance at $34.09 and $34.58.
