Pre-opening Comments for Friday June 6th

U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning. S&P 500 futures were up 45 points at 8:35 AM EDT.

S&P 500 futures added 18 points following release of the U.S. May Employment Report. Consensus for May Non-farm Payrolls was a drop to 125,000 from revised 147,000 in April. Actual was 139,000. Consensus for the May Unemployment Rate was unchanged from April at 4.2%. Actual was. unchanged. Consensus for May Average Hourly Earnings was a 0.3% increase versus a 0.2% gain in April. Actual was a 0.4% gain.

The Canadian Dollar added 0.07 to US73.12 cents following release of Canada’s May Employment Report at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus called for a 12,000 drop in employment. Actual was an 8,800 gain. Consensus called for an increase in the unemployment rate to 7.0% from 6.9% in April. Actual was an increase to 7.0%

Lulu Lemon dropped $69.78 to $261.00 after issuing guidance below consensus following release of first quarter results.

Tesla recovered $14.57 to $299.26 after a dispute between Elon Musk and President Trump is expected to be addressed today.

Notable silver stock breakouts were Pan-American Silver (PAAS) on a move above $28.48, Hecla Mining (HL) on a move above $6.44 and First Majestic Silver on a move above $8.41

TSX Global Gold iShares (XGD.TO) moved above Cdn$32.08 to an all-time high extending an intermediate uptrend.

Base Metals ETFs moved above resistance extending an intermediate uptrend. TSX Global Base Metals iShares (XBM.TO broke above Cdn$19.41. Global X Copper Miners (COPX) moved above $43.44. Among individual stocks, Southern Copper (SCCO) moved above US$94.71 and Teck Resources moved above US$38.80

S&P 100 stocks and NASDAQ 100 stocks moving above resistance extending intermediate uptrends included Match (MTCH) on a move above $31.08, Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) on a move above $52.32 and Emerson Electric (EMR) on a move above $122.08.
