Pre-opening Comments for Thursday August 28th
U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning. S&P 500 futures were up 2 points at 8:35 AM EDT.
S&P 500 futures added 5 points following an updated release of second quarter GDP. Consensus was unchanged at a 3.0% gain versus a 0.5% drop in the first quarter. Actual was a 3.3% gain
NVidia (NVDA) dropped $5.00 to $176.60 following release of second quarter results. Third quarter guidance was less than consensus.
Snowflake (SNOW) advanced $24.11 to $224.41 after reporting higher than consensus second quarter revenues. The company also offered positive guidance.
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Toronto Dominion Bank are expected to open higher after reporting higher than consensus fiscal third quarter results.
Urban Outfitters (URBN) dropped $4.88 to $73.13 after reporting less than consensus second quarter results.
Technical Notes
S&P 100 and NASDAQ 100 stocks moving above resistance extending intermediate uptrends included Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL), General Dynamics (GD), MongoDB (MDB) and ConocoPhillips (COP), Seasonal influences are favourable for Royal Caribbean until November 17th and are favourable for General Dynamics until October 9th.
