Pre-opening Comments for Wednesday December 31^st

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 5 points at 8:35 AM EST.

S&P 500 futures were unchanged following release of the U.S. weekly jobless claims report at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus was an increase to 220,000 from 214,000 last week. Actual was a drop to 199,000.

Nike added $1.93 to $63.12 after CEO Elliott Hill purchased shares valued at $1 million.
