Pre-opening Comments for Friday March 6th 2026

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 50 points at 8:35 AM EST.

S&P 500 futures dropped 14 points following release of February Employment Report at 8:30 AM EST. February Non-farm Payrolls were expected to drop to 54,000 from 130,000 in January. Actual was a 92,000 loss. February Unemployment Rate was expected to slip to 4.3% from 4.4% in January. Actual was 4.4%. February Hourly Earnings were expected to increase 0.3% versus a 0.4% increase in January. Actual was 0.4%. On a year-over-year basis, February Hourly Earnings were expected to increase 3.7%. Actual was 3.8%.

WTI Crude oil gained another $4.57 to $85.60 per barrel.

Gap Stores (GAP) dropped $2.42 to 24.78 after reporting less than consensus fourth quarter results.

Costco (COST) dropped $3.67 to $978.90 despite reporting higher than consensus fiscal second quarter revenues and earnings.

Marvell (MRVL) advanced $11.16 to $86.84 after reporting higher than consensus fourth quarter results.
