U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were up 7 points in pre-opening trade.<\/em><\/p>\n

Index futures were virtually unchanged following release of the U.S. August Producer Price Index<\/b> at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus was a decrease of 0.1% versus a decline of 0.5% in July. Actual was a decrease of 0.1%. On a year-over-year basis, consensus for August PPI was an increase of 8.9% versus a gain of 9.8% in July. Actual was an increase of 8.7%. Excluding food and energy<\/b>, August PPI was expected to increase 0.3% versus a gain of 0.2% in July. Actual was a gain of 0.4%. On a year-over-year basis, core August PPI was expected to increase 7.1% versus a gain of 7.6% in July. Actual was an increase of 7.3%.<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n

CSX dropped $0.45 to $31.11<\/b> after Bernstein downgraded the stock from Buy to Hold.<\/em><\/p>\n
