Pre-opening Comments for Wednesday March 15th<\/sup><\/font><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

U<\/strong>.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 75 points in pre-opening trade. Index futures turned lower in overnight trade on news of liquidity concerns at Credit Suisse. Credit Suisse dropped $0.41 to $1.81. <\/em><\/p>\n

Index futures moved slightly lower<\/b> following release of a series of U.S. economic news at 8:30 AM EDT:<\/em><\/p>\n

February Producer Price Index<\/b> was expected to increase 0.3% versus a gain of 0.7% in January. Actual was a decrease of 0.1%. On a year-over-year basis February PPI was expected to increase 5.5% versus 6.0% in January. Actual was an increase of 4.6%. Excluding food and energy, February Producer Price Index is expected to increase 0.4% versus a gain of 0.5% in January. Actual was an increase of 0.2%. On a year-over-year basis, core PPI is expected to increase 4.9% versus a gain of 5.4% in January. Actual was an increase of 4.6%.<\/em><\/p>\n

February Retail Sales<\/b> were expected to decrease 0.4% versus a gain of 3.0% in January. Actual was a decrease of 0.4%. Excluding auto sales, February Retail Sales were expected to increase 0.3% versus a gain of 2.3% in January. Actual was a decrease of 0.1%.<\/em><\/p>\n

March Empire State Manufacturing Survey<\/b> was expected to drop to -7.50 from -5.80 in February. Actual was .a drop to -24.6.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lennar slipped $1.73<\/b> to $99.79<\/b> despite reporting higher than consensus quarterly earnings.<\/em><\/p>\n
