U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning.<\/b> S&P 500 futures were down 9 points at 8:35 AM EDT. <\/em><\/p>\n

Index futures moved lower following release for June Non-farm Payrolls<\/b> at 8:30 AM EDT<\/b> Consensus was an increase of 230,000 versus a gain of downwardly revised 306,000 in April. Actual was an increase of 209,000. June Unemployment Rate was expected to remain unchanged at 3.7% reported in May. Actual was a drop to 3.6%. June Average Hourly Earnings were expected to increase 0.3% versus a gain of 0.3% in May. Actual was a gain of 0.4%.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Canadian Dollar was unchanged at US74.95 cents following release of the June Canadian Employment<\/b> report<\/b> at 8:30 AM EDT<\/b>. Consensus was an increase of 20,000 jobs versus a drop of 17,300 in May. Actual was an increase of 60,000 jobs. Consensus for the June Unemployment Rate was an increase to 5.3% from 5.2% in May. Actual was an increase to 5.4%.<\/em><\/p>\n

Levi Straus dropped $0.90 to 13.33<\/b> after reporting less than consensus second quarter revenues. <\/em><\/p>\n

Biogen gained $1.01 to $286.00<\/b> after the FDA approved its Alzheimer treatment. <\/em><\/p>\n
