Equity index futures were higher this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were up 12 points at 8:35 AM EDT.<\/em><\/p>\n

Index futures added 5 points after the September Producer Price Index was released at 8:30 AM EDT.<\/b> Consensus was an increase of 0.3% versus a gain of 0.7% in August. Actual was an increase of 0.5%. On a year-over-year basis, consensus was an increase of 1.6% versus a gain of 1.6% in August. Actual was an increase of 2.2%. Excluding food and energy, consensus was a gain of 0.2% versus a gain of 0.2% in August. Actual was an increase of 0.3%. On a year-over-year basis, consensus for core PPI was an increase of 2.3% versus a gain of 2.2% in August. Actual was an increase of 2.7%.<\/em><\/p>\n

Texas Instruments <\/b>dropped $2.07 to $155.59 after Oppenheimer downgraded the stock from Outperform to Perform.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pioneer Natural Resources <\/b>added $4.29 to $241.70 after Exxon Mobil agreed to purchase the company in an all-stock deal priced at $253.00 per share. Value of the offer is estimated at $59.5 billion.<\/em><\/p>\n
