U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were up 12 points at 8:35 AM EDT.<\/em><\/p>\n

S&P 500 futures added 20 points following release of the June U.S. Consumer Price Index at 8:30 AM EDT.<\/b> Consensus was an increase of 0.1% versus no change in May. Actual was a drop of 0.1%. On a year-over-year basis, consensus was an increase of 3.1% versus a gain of 3.3% in May. Actual was a gain of 3.0%. Excluding food and energy, consensus was an increase of 0.2% versus a gain of 0.2% in May. Actual was an increase of 0.1%. On a year-over-year basis, consensus was a gain of 3.4% versus a gain of 3.4% in May. Actual was a gain of 3.3%.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alcoa<\/b> added $0.74 to $39.20 after the company offered a preliminary estimate for second quarter revenues that were higher than consensus. <\/em><\/p>\n

Citigroup<\/b> dropped $0.86 to $66.12 after the Federal Comptroller issued a $135.6 million fine.<\/em><\/p>\n
