U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were up 2 points at 8:35 AM EST.<\/em><\/p>\n

S&P 500 futures dropped 5 points following release of economic news at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus for December U.S. Retail Sales<\/b> was a 0.5% increase versus a 0.7% increase in November. Actual was a 0.4% increase. Excluding auto sales, consensus for December U.S. Retail Sales was a 0.5% increase versus a 0.2% increase in November. Actual was a 0.4% increase. Consensus for January Philly Fed Index<\/b> was -5.2 versus -16.4 in December. Actual was +44.1.<\/em><\/p>\n

UnitedHealth Group<\/b> dropped $9.41 to $534.01 after reporting less than consensus fourth quarter revenues.<\/em> <\/p>\n

Target<\/b> gained $1.21 to $135.74 after announcing that same store sales growth in November and December were higher than expected. <\/em><\/p>\n
