U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were up 7 points at 8:35 AM EDT.<\/em><\/p>\n

S&P 500 futures added 2 points following release of economic news at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus for the August Empire State Manufacturing Survey<\/b> was a drop to 1.8 from 5.5 in July. Actual was a gain to 11.9. Consensus for U.S. July Retail Sales<\/b> was a 0.5% increase versus a 0.6% gain in June. Actual was a 0.5% gain. Excluding auto sales, consensus was a 0.3% increase versus a 0.5% in June. Actual was a 0.3% gain.<\/em><\/p>\n

Applied Materials<\/b> dropped $22.29 to $165.95 after issuing lower than consensus fiscal fourth quarter guidance. <\/em><\/p>\n

Hims & Hers<\/b> dropped $2.48 to $44.65 following news that the FTC has been exploring its business practices.<\/em><\/p>\n

After the close yesterday, Berkshire Hathaway confirmed purchase of additional shares of four companies: UnitedHealth Group<\/b> added $21.92 to $293.40, Nucor<\/b> gained $9.11 to $153.46, Lennar <\/b>advanced $4.70 to $135.15 and DR Horton<\/b> rose $4.78 to $168.68.<\/em><\/p>\n
