U.S. equity index futures were mixed this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were down 2 points at 8:35 AM EDT.<\/em><\/p>\n

S&P 500 futures were unchanged following release of July U.S. Housing Starts<\/b> at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus called for a drop to 1.290 million units from 1.327 million units in June. Actual was an increase to 1.430 million units<\/em><\/p>\n

The Canadian Dollar slipped 0.10 to US72.32 cents following release of Canada\u2019s July Consumer Price Index<\/b> at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus called for a 0.3% increase in July versus a 0.1% gain in June. Actual was a 0.3% increase. On a year-over-year basis consensus called for a 1.8% increase versus a 1.9% increase in June. Actual was a 1.7% increase. <\/em><\/p>\n

Palo Alto<\/b> gained $10.29to $186.46 after releasing higher than consensus fourth quarter results. The company also offered positive first quarter guidance. <\/em><\/p>\n

Intel <\/b>advanced $1.28 to $24.94 after Softbank made a $2 billion investment in the company.<\/em><\/p>\n
