U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning<\/b>. S&P 500 futures were up 32 points at 8:35 AM EST.<\/em><\/p>\n

S&P 500 futures added 3 points following release of economic news at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus for the January Empire State Manufacturing Survey<\/b> was an improvement to 1.0 from -3.9 in December. Actual was an increase to 7.7 Consensus for the January Philly Fed Index<\/b> was an improvement to -4.5 from -10.2 in December. Actual was an improvement to 12.6.<\/em><\/p>\n

Taiwan Semiconductor<\/b> added $19.85 to $346.96 after releasing higher than consensus fourth quarter earnings. <\/em><\/p>\n

Penumbra<\/b> advanced $41.57 to $355.00 after Boston Scientific offered to purchase the company in a cash and stock deal valued at $14.5 billion.<\/em><\/p>\n

Goldman Sachs<\/b> dropped $22.22 to $910.35 despite reporting higher than consensus fourth quarter earnings..<\/em><\/p>\n
