<\/a>Pre-opening Comments for Tuesday July 14th<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning<\/b>. SS&P 500 futures were down points at 8:35 AM EDT following release of the June U.S. Consumer Price Index at 8:30 AM EDT.<\/em><\/p>\n

June U.S. Consumer Price Index<\/b> was expected to drop 0.2% versus a 0.5% increase in May. Actual was a 0.4% drop. On a year-over-year basis<\/b>, June CPI was expected to increase 3.8% versus a 4.2% increase in May. Actual was a 3.5% increase. Excluding food and energy<\/b>, June CPI was expected to drop 0.2% versus a 0.2% increase in May. Actual was unchanged. On a year-over-year basis<\/b>, core CPI was expected to increase 2.8% versus 2.9% in May. Actual was a 2.6% increase.<\/em><\/p>\n

U.S. Banks<\/b> scheduled to report second quarter results before the opening this morning include JP Morgan, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and Citigroup.<\/em><\/p>\n

Apple<\/b> (AAPL) briefly moved above $317.40 to an all-time high late yesterday, but dropped $3.53 to $313.78 in pre-opening trade after KeyBank downgraded the stock.<\/em><\/p>\n
