Pre-opening Comments for Thursday April 2nd

A reminder: North American equity markets are closed tomorrow. Despite closed markets, the March U.S. Employment Report is scheduled for release at 8:30 AM EST on Friday.
U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures dropped 99 points at 8:35 AM EST.
Index futures moved lower following President Trump’s comments on the conflict with Iran last night. S&P 500 futures dropped after his speech at 9:00 PM EST. WTI Crude Oil increased $8.50 to $108.65 per barrel in overnight trade.
S&P 500 futures added 3 points following release of the February U.S. Trade Deficit report at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus calls for an increase to $61.7 billion from $54.5 billion in January. Actual was a $57.35 billion.

Alcoa (AA) moved above $68.29 extending an intermediate uptrend.
Pfizer (PFE) an S&P 100 stock moved above $28.48 to a 32 month high extending an intermediate uptrend.

The long term Barometer added 0.60 to 49.40. It remains Neutral.
TSX Momentum Barometers
The intermediate term Barometer jumped 9.95 to 49.77. It changed from Oversold to Neutral on a recovery above 40.00. Daily uptrend was extended.
The short term (20 days) jumped another 14.48 to 66.52. It changed from Neutral to Overbought on a move above 60.00. Daily uptrend was extended.
The long term Barometer was unchanged at 73.76. It remains Overbought.
