Pre-opening Comments for Wednesday June 10th

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 42 points at 8:35 AM EDT.

S&P 500 futures recovered 13 points following release of the May U.S. Consumer Price Index at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus called for a 0.5% increase versus a 0.6% increase in April. Actual was a 0.5% increase. On a year-over-year basis, consensus called for a 4.2% increase versus a 3.8% increase in April. Actual was a 4.2% increase. Excluding food and energy, consensus for May CPI was a 0.3% increase versus a 0.4% increase in April. Actual was a 0.2% increase. On a year-over-year basis consensus was a 2.9% increase versus a 2.8% increase in April. Actual was a 2.9% increase.

Gold bullion dropped $96.40 to $4,190.00 per ounce in pre-opening trade.

Cracker Barrel (CBRL) added $4.09 to $40.39 after reporting higher than consensus fiscal third quarter earnings. The company also offered positive fiscal fourth quarter guidance.

Super Micro Computer (SMCI) dropped $3.64 to $37.10 after reporting less than consensus fiscal second quarter revenues.

Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM) a TSX 60 stock and major silver equity stock moved below US$113.04 and Cdn$155.33 extending an intermediate downtrend. Pan-American Silver (PAAS) a major U.S. silver producer moved below $45.79 extending an intermediate downtrend.
