Pre-opening Comments for Friday February 27th

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 63 points at 8:35 AM EST.

S&P 500 futures dipped 3 points following release of the January U.S. Producer Price Index at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus called for a 0.3% increase versus a 0.5% gain in December. Actual was a 0.5% gain. Excluding food and energy, consensus called for a 0.4% increase versus a 0.4% gain in December. Actual was a 0.3% gain.

Intuit (INTU) dropped $14.42 to $380.00 after issuing fiscal third quarter guidance below consensus.

Block (XYZ) gained $11.07 to $65.60 after announcing a 40% reduction in its work force.

Dell (DELL) gained $6.95 to $128.00 after reporting higher than consensus quarterly earnings. The company also raised its dividend by 20% and issued positive first quarter guidance.

Netflix (NFLX) gained $6.77 to $91.40 after withdrawing its bid to buy Warner Brothers Discovery.

Gold Miners ETF (GDX) moved above $113.50 to an all-time high extending an intermediate uptrend.

Junior Gold Miners ETF (GDXJ) moved above $152.24 to an all-time high extending an intermediate uptrend.

Nvidia dropped $10.57 to $184.89 despite releasing better than consensus fourth quarter results. The heavy weight of the stock in the S&P 500 Index and NASDAQ 100 Index was the main reason for index weakness yesterday.

Ford (F) an S&P 100 stock moved above $14.35 extending an intermediate uptrend.
